Traditional Fish and Chips
Fish and chips are a part of British culture and are a healthy eating option if they are a small part of a healthy balanced main diet. Fresh fish, dipped in egg, and then covered in seasoned flour, deep fried in fresh vegetable oil, then drained and matched up with a portion of "french fries" made from real potatoes, thickly cut and deep fried. Add salt and vineger to taste, then wrap them up in newspaper (very traditional) and there you have it! Real fish and chips!
There are at least four fish and chip shops in the Lochaber area so if you are visiting from overseas, best try one before you go back home. However, we are not sure if there are any in the Glencoe area, so this list below shows you all the fish and chip shops in Lochaber. Please let us know if we are wrong!
Many restaurants will also offer fish and chips as a meal meal so do ask if the fish is fresh or frozen - there is a difference.... both good, but fresh is better.
