Kentallen, Appin and Port Appin by Loch Linnhe in Argyll
Appin and Port Appin are in Argyll but essentially they are in easy reach of Glencoe and the Fort William area. A drive down the coast to Appin and Port Appin is really a very nice experience where the countyside is subtley different from that further north. The Holly Tree Hotel and Restaurant has a superb loch-side location with their own pier.
Appin is famous for the Appin Murders of the 17th century.
On the way to Port Appin is Castle Stalker - a small castle located on its own island which is surrounded by the sea at high-water. The view of the castle from the top of the hill looking down the Loch Linnhe and Firth of Lorne is amazing some days...
Port Appin is a very pretty area with its own 5-star, Relais Chateau hotel and restaurant - The Airds Hotel & Restaurant - a superbly run family businesss with great views, superb food, and undividually decorated rooms and suites. A great venue for a small Highland Wedding !
Port Appin has a small ferry service that will take you over to the Isle of Lismore - a verdant, arable land about 2 miles long and a great place for a cycle. Port Appin also boasts its own fine fish restaurant.
