Glencoe Village is near the site of the Glencoe Massacre

Glencoe village lies at the end of a fantastic journey over Rannoch Moor and through the Pass of Glencoe. Your descent through the mountains and past Loch Achtriochtan continues until you reach the sea at Invercoe, where the River Coe joins the Atlantic Ocean.

The village lies at sea-level with the Pap of Glencoe, a prominent mountain, towering above. Glencoe village is a bright and friendly place with a good choice of accommodation, a Folk Museum with traditional thatched roof, shops and amenities.

A short journey over a humped-back stone bridge takes you to a Forestry carpark, where several pleasant walks have been set out amongst mature trees around a lochan (small lake). The Forstry Lochan is a special place and something we recommend visiting.

Visiting the Glencoe area should be a must for all visitors to Lochaber. Within 6 miles of any direction, the local community provides a huge selection of hotels, guesthouses, B & Bs, and self-catering accommodation.

Other local businesses provide water-based sports and mountain guiding, Coffee shops and crafts, a clothing outlet all welcome you to visit. One local company manufactures violins and clarsachs - musical instruments which are sold around the world.
